Hucknall Anglers Fishing Club was formed in 1947 by a group of anglers from the Hucknall area of Nottinghamshire in the U.K. Although it was initially a match fishing club, in about 1965 a lease was taken out on a fishery in Bestwood Village, known locally as the Bonemill, this includes two ponds and a stretch of the River Leen. This continues today and has developed into a good, natural mixed fishery, containing many species of fish from gudgeon to carp, 20lb+. The club also runs matches at our waters during the summer on a Thursday evening for 16 weeks, and at various venues in the local area, for 26 weeks from April to October on a Sunday, the average attendance for a Sunday match is about 20 anglers. Within Hucknall Anglers Fishing Club, there is an affiliated club attached to it. Forge Mills Piscatorial Society was formed to cater for the ordinary club angler who wishes to pleasure fish our waters with-out fishing Sunday matches.
